Portugal Windmill

The Windmill is about 10 km from Setubal, a fairly large town with some good restaurants – also some quite nice beaches about 15 km from the Windmill. The Windmill is in the village of Palmela – also, some nice bistro type resturants. Further north on the peninsular, about 25 km from the Windmill, south of the Tagus, there are some very good wineries (La Fonseca amoungst them). Pretty country – great for cycling. Also, it is only about 50 km from Lisbon - a quite fast drive. Also Cais Cais on the north bank of the Tagus (90 minutes) – a well known resort area (casino etc), and then further north Cinta,the former summer palace of the Portuguese royalty – a beautiful drive and location.

Situated 40 kilometers from Lisbon Airport, the windmill has a panoramic view of the fishing town of Setubal, the Atlantic Ocean and the arrabida Mountains.In previous centuries the windwill ground grain for the Castle. Now it sleeps for inside with an adjoining Cabana (with its own ensuite) which sleeps two more. Fully equipped with a kitchenette.
